At the Cavan Assizes, four soldiers of the Clare Militia, named Patrick Mahon, Patrick Cullen, Joseph Haire and Patrick Flanagan were tried for the rape of the body of Winifred Gaffney, a young girl not sixteen years of age, on Saturday, the 4th of July last .........
