Freeman's Journal Feb 4 to 6 1773
" Feb 3 near the new bridge at Cratloe the servant of Mr. Miles Carroll,
Jnr, was stopped by 4 men, who robbed him of a piece of linen, some tea and 8s.
8d. in cash.
And at night Mr Alexander Hamilton was likewise robbed at Meelick Park of about
3l. (£) a silk handkerchief, and a pair of plate buckets."
Freeman's Journal Feb 25 to 27 1773
" We hear from Ennis that a most barberous murder was committed last
Monday night by one Nolan, a cabinet maker, and Denis Egan, gunsmith, on the
body of a poor man, who was coming out of his own house into the street, by
running him through the body with a sword. Egan was overheard asking Nolan was
the sword sharp enough, who replied he would engage it would do his business;
they are both lodged in jail. "
