ESSENCE OF EVERY DAY'S NEWS
Dublin, Tuesday, Noon.

     At a meeting of the Ballinasloe Asylum Committee yesterday a motion was adopted sanctioning an increase of the salary of Dr. Mills, Senior Assistant Medical Officer, by £50.
     Shortly after eleven o'clock yesterday a fire was discovered in one of the hay lofts of Mr. Richard Keating's livery stables, Henry street, Limerick. The damage, which is considerable, is covered by insurance.
     At meetings of the Clare County Council and the Limerick and Clare Farmers' Club a resolution was adopted calling on the Government to prohibit the sale of patent spirit as genuine Irish pot-still whiskey.
     At Naas Petty Sessions yesterday a man named John Tyrrell was fined 30s and costs on a charge of having thrown a stone at Dr. Lane Joynt, of Dublin, who was returning from attending a patient in a motor car. The fine was increased to £2 in order to enable the defendant to appeal.
