Mr. Pratt, of the county of Cavan, Ireland, a distant relation of Lord Camden, was remarkable for the best breed of sheep in that country: some sheep thieves having thought proper one night to pay his fold a visit, the next morning when he came to survey his fleecy care, he found the following lines on the gate which opened to the sheep-walk:

Mr. Pratt,
Your sheep are fat,
You may thank your own good grass for that,
Out of three score and eleven,
We have left you seven,
And you may thank us for that.
