The Lanark Era

   At Innisville, Wed., Oct. 23rd, Mrs. William Code, aged 75 years. Born Elizabeth Hicks, at Enniskillen, North Ireland, in the year 1820. She came to Canada with her brothers in 1842, landing at Kingston on Halloween. They moved to Perth in December of that year arriving on Christmas Eve. In 1849, she married William Code, and lived in the village of Innisville for 46 years. She was the mother of seven children, five sons and two daughters: John, County Treasurer; T.A. Code, owner of the Perth Knitting works; R.G. Code, Barrister, Ottawa; W.A. Code, Civil Service, Ottawa; J.R. Code, Toronto; Mrs. Margaret Code, Drummond; and Mrs. Mary E. Code, Perth. She was a sister of William Hicks, of Perth. Burial in Elmwood Cemetery.
