The Lanark Era DIED In Drummond, Mon. March 1st, Margaret Felther, relict of the late Patrick O'Keefe, aged 100 years. Born in Waterford City, Ireland, in 1796, she came to this country 65 years ago with her bro. Jas Felther, who lives at Ferguson Falls, and a sister, Mrs. Hickey, of the same place. Fifty two years ago, she married Patrick O'Keefe, whom she outlived by a few months. She was living with a nephew, Mr. Thos. Richards. The Lanark Era DIED At Carleton Place, March 12th, Mary Bulgar, relict of the late Hugh Ackland, aged 80 years. She was born in Tipperary, Ireland, and came to this country in 1831, at the age of 12 years, accompanied by a married sister, Mrs. John Charles, who died on shipboard. She married at the age of 15 years to Hugh Ackland, whose family had come from the same locations in Ireland, some years previous. To them were born eleven children, eight of whom are still living: Mrs. Jas. Horn, Kingsley, Man; Mrs. Jas. Gillies, Carleton Place; Dudley, in Winnipeg; James, in Philadelphia; Robert in New York; Joseph in Ottawa; and Hugh and John, in Carleton Place. Her husband died some sixteen years ago. Burial in St. James' cemetery. The Lanark Era DIED In Drummond, Saturday March 20th, Mrs. George Dowdall, aged 73 years. She was born in Ireland and came with her family settling in Drummond within a mile of where she died. |
