Mrs. Mary Cook, widow of Charles H. Cook, died at
her late home, rear 24 Prospect street, this morning at 1:15, following an
illness of several weeks.
She was the mother of Charles H. and John A. Cook, proprieters of Cook Bros.
cigar store, Main street.
The deceased was born in County Leitrim, Ireland, 78 years ago, the
daughter of the late Andrew and Margaret Donahoe. About 58 years ago she came to
this country and going to Milford, Mass, remained as a resident of that town for
42 years. About 16 years ago she came to this city and since lived here.
The death of Mrs. Cook will not alone be a blow to the members of the
family, but also to a wide circle of friends both in this city and Milford. Her
devotion to the members of her immediate household and the many kind and
charitable deeds she performed for others earned a respect and esteem that is
lasting.
Besides her sons, Charles H. and John A., she is survived by three
daughters, Mrs. James Nolan of Milford, Miss Margaret Cook of this city and Mrs.
James Drummond of Leominster, Mass.; 14 grandchildren and two great
grandchildren.
The funeral will be held from her late home Thursday morning at 8:30. A
high mass of requiem will be sung at St. Charles church at 9. Interment in St.
Charles's cemetery.
